The Glory of Winter Boots
Michalis 'BIG Mike' Kotzakolios

Defined Tag:

It looks like the weather is getting kind of cold. With the exception of those who live in the gloriously warm climate of the Isle of Fiji, the winter time in many parts of the world is notoriously cold. In fact, it is not uncommon for the winter to bring about significant snowfall that can literally pile up several feet. Even simply opening the front door of a house and venturing out to the local 7-11 can turn into a brutal endurance test. Needless to say, such a venture is incredibly difficult if the person making the trek must rely solely on tennis shoes for footwear protection. Sorry, but sneakers by themselves just are not going to provide adequate protection and a pair of winter boots will be needed in order to make the trek workable.

Winter boots need not be beautiful looking or even remotely stylish. Winter boots need to be water resistant and able to insulate the foot (feet) from the ravages of cold that piles and piles of snow can yield. If the feet are not properly protected, a number of maladies can occur including pneumonia. As such, it is incredibly important that the winter boots properly provide the functionality that they are intended to perform and to perform their function without fail.

Now, this does not mean by any stretch of the imagination that the winter boots need not look stylish. The added benefit of a snazzy and cool appearance can make the boots even more appreciated. After all, who does not want to look good when they venture out their front door? Of course, it goes without saying that the look of the boots should not detract away from the functionality of the boots to make one safe from the ravages that the winter season and weather can cause.

It's probably safe to retire — or at least put to rest for a long winter snooze — your skinny-leg pants. Once the first signs of spring start to stir, the favored silhouette will be loose and easy.
